Flagg Memorial Full Gospel Church of God has a rich spiritual heritage.

Founded upon the word of God more than 50 years ago, Flagg Memorial Full Gospel Church of God has been the church home for it's members for over 50 years. Some members are no longer with us and have go on home to be with the Lord. Although they are not here with us, their memory and works remain as a testament of the works and dedication to our Lord.

In Memory of
Our Founder and Bishop

Reverend Roosevelt Flagg

Bishop Flagg was a man of faith and was unwavering in his defense of the gospel of Jesus Christ. As true believer in God's word he lived accordingly, and believed that God would supply, "all things that pertain unto life and godliness" (2 Peter 1:3). With the help of God Bishop Flagg left a legacy that has been the foundation of our contributions to the work of the Lord and in our community.

Early Life

Roosevelt Flagg was born in Okeechobee Florida to the union of Willie Bee and Will Flagg on January 5, 1929. Growing up in the 30's and 40's was challenging at times because of the "Great Depression" and the rumblings of World War II, but in the words of Reverend Flagg, "we had a better life.

The call and hand of God was upon Reverend Flagg from an early age. In giving his personal testimony Rev. Flagg expressed how God spoke to his heart. As he often walked along the dusty roads or out picking tropical fruit he could hear God saying, "Pastors, the Pastors", emphasizing the importance of the role of a Pastor. Even then he dreamed of being a circuit preacher for the Lord, going from place to place, preaching the gospel.

Adult Life

As a young man, Roosevelt Flagg met Elvera Jenkins and they married on March 25, 1950. To that union there were nine children born, with five children living today: Gwendolyn, Roosevelt Jr. (deceased), Leonard, Alfred Ray (deceased), and Guernsey Allen), Eugene and Robin. In 1964 Reverend Flagg and his family moved to Newark, NJ. While raising his family there God continued to make and mold him.

In March 1967 he became the Pastor of the Church of God in Burlington, NJ. Although the congregation was small, God anointed the work and gave Reverend Flagg a teaching ministry for the churches. God send message after message, call all who heard to holiness, for "holiness, without which, no man shall see the Lord".

As God sent the word, Reverend Flagg preached it? The church adopted a moto proclaimed by Reverend Flagg, "Lord, Lord? My whole life, I give to thee". It was an exciting time. The church began to grow and to prosper spiritually. Reverend Flagg continued to preach the unadulterated word of God until the Lord took him home; never changing, never failing!
